Speaking Level Questions

Can I change the group if the level is too low or high?

Yes, e.g. if you join the A2 group and the level is not high enough, you can switch to the B1 group and the subscription will be kept the same. Just let us know.

Can I be in 2 groups for no extra cost (e.g. B1/B2 + C1)?

Yes, you just need to have the appropriate level for the higher group (You can’t join two groups at the same time on the same meeting, because Discord only allows one active audio channel at the same time). For example, if you are in C1, you can join that group and you can also join the B1/B2 group at no extra cost. Just let us know once you have joined to do so.

What is my speaking level?

These are just references, as you may know, multiple choice exams, or any kind of exam for that matter, do not represent, in any way, your individual reality.

A2 – Just after beginner level. You can have a basic conversation about everyday activities.
B1 – You can describe more experiences and give reasons and explanations for points made.
B2 – You can discuss more abstract concepts and can give advantages/disadvantages on a variety of opinions.
C1 – Advanced – you can express yourself fluently and without much pause.

Do you have different groups for different levels?

Of course! We have separate groups for A2, B1, B2, and C1.

How do I know when I should move up a level?

Whenever you’re ready, baby. But if you are in doubt, ask the leader of the meetup. There will be time to do so at the start of the meetup. They will be able to advise you on whether you should move up or stay where you are for a little longer.

The Meeting´s Questions

What happens in a meeting?

The leader splits everyone up into groups of 3 people. A different conversation theme with various questions will be provided for every meeting. Everyone takes turns and answers every question of the theme – this is how the meetup is structured. The leader of the group will, eventually, join your group for a while to check on you and give you feedback – they will do this for every group and for every meetup. At the end of the hour, you can say goodbye to your partners and leave the meeting.

Do the meetups start on time?

Absolutely. 3-5 minutes before the start time, please enter the main voice group: “Aprendices-Reunios”.

For the first conversation, I just want to listen and not speak, is that possible?

No. That’s why is called Speaking Spanish Club, in order to improve, you need to speak. I know is a little bit weird or awkward at first, but it is the best pathway to fluency. That happened to me with the German language when I first moved to Germany, but the more you speak, the better you become.

That is also why we only use audio channels, the other partners don’t even see you. If you make a mistake, who cares!? Just talk and do it!

Do you accept members on a rolling basis?

Yes, we constantly welcome new members. Just enroll in our 7-days Free Trial

What are the times the meetups are held?

We meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 20:00 hrs CET. Here is the schedule.

How long are the meetups?

1 hour long.

How big are the speaking groups?

There are max 3 people in every group. The whole group starts together at the beginning, and then the group split up into smaller groups. Don’t worry, there’ll be always space for you.

Do you use video for the meetups?

No, we only use audio. This increases the likelihood of speaking with confidence and doesn’t be embarrassed by mistakes.

What topics are we going to discuss in the meetups?

There are different topics, or themes, every day for each level A2, B1/B2, C1. There are 10 questions in every theme to talk about, and you can stay on any answers as long as you like.

For A2, the topics are focused on simple everyday activities, such as, but not limited to, EatingFamilyWork, and Food.

For B1/B2, the topics get a bit more difficult, with some examples being GlobalisationLong-Distance Relationships, and Creativity.

For C1 the themes will test your Spanish vocabulary and grammar to the limits, with themes such as CriticismTechnology, Mobility and Living Quality.

These are just a few examples, the range of themes is varied and diverse. There will always be something interesting to talk about.
